We will be discussing Passover, There are many who debate about whether Fathers Feast days are beneficial for us to observes or if it was strictly for the Jews. There are many scriptures that reveal to us the truth about Passover and what it means to us today. We will be also answering some questions as we move forward in a some what exhaustive study. I ask that you pray before you start and I will do the same before I conduct this study. It will be best to go back and study Exodus chapters 12 and 13 after this study. Let’s start out by stating our first question.
WHAT IS PASSOVER?
Passover is a memorial, but not just that, it’s also instruction on how to have an experience with accepting the Son of Gods sacrifice. Let’s start by looking at scripture.
Exo 12:6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
Exo 12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
Now memorial means memento, or something to remember. Which poses another question?
IS THIS FEAST FOR THE JEWS BECAUSE IT WAS THEIR EXPERIENCE?
Well scripture tells us that They were to teach this service even to children who were not born in Egypt to personally experience it. It is a memorial of what God did, can and will do for His people if we follow His will.
Exo 12:26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?
Exo 12:27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.
Now lets look a little about the details of this particular Feast or memorial.
Exo 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Exo 12:6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
Exo 12:7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
Exo 12:8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
Exo 12:9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.
Exo 12:10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.
Exo 12:11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover.
Exo 12:12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
Exo 12:13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
Exo 12:14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.
Now there are quite a few symbols to examine. These symbols are very important that we may understand what Father is trying to reveal. Before we begin I would like us to remember a few scriptures.
Romans 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Everything written is definitely for our learning especially thing written in the past.
Phillipians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
We are told to commit things that God reveals to us to memory, which is very important for our edifying and encouragement. Now lets look at the first element of the Passover.
Exo 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:
The Lamb is to be without blemish, who would this represent?
1Pe 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Joh_1:36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
The symbol points us to the Son of God who is the Lamb of God. Lets continue to look at the elements of this Feast.
Exo 12:6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
If you notice in this verse it mentions that the whole assembly must kill the Lamb personally. This shows us that it is US who kills the lamb. It is because of OUR sins that the Son of God had to die. This is a sobering thought when observing this memorial. Peter mentions this when preaching in the book of Acts.
Act 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Not only are they responsible but we ourselves are responsible today for His death as well. Our sin is the reason for His death and brings Him the same pain as it did on the cross.
Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
This point should be constantly in our minds that we might not sin against our savior and put Him in pain. This point definitely needed in our thought today. The next scripture is:
The blood of the lamb must be placed on the door post. We know the Blood of the lamb is the blood of the Son of God.
Rev_12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Eph_2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
WHAT DOES THE BLOOD MEAN?
Lev 17:14 For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off.
The blood is the life, so when they used the blood on the door, it symbolized taking the life of Christ in your hearts.
The door post symbolizes our hearts.
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Col_1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Gal 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
This symbol is the main subject of our preaching to the world today, that they may see their sin and that the Lamb of God died that we may live and that He may live IN US. This point is so important to remain that The Son of God instituted a new symbolic ordinance to replace these symbols.
WHY DOES GOD HAVE TO CHANGE THE SYMBOLS?
We when look at the Lamb of God, we have to realize that that lamb was in Fact a sacrifice. The Son of God fulfilled ALL sacrifices by His death.
Exo 12:27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
1Co 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
We see because Christ fulfilled ALL sacrifices, to sacrifice the Passover lamb again would be to deny the death of the Son of God. The jewdeizers we constantly trying to put ceremonies in front of the sacrifice of Christ and this is why many erred and fell from the Faith during the early church.
Let’s look at when the symbols of the Lamb and the blood actually changed.
Luk 22:15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer:
Luk 22:16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
Luk 22:17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves:
Luk 22:18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
Luk 22:19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
Luk 22:20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
We see here that because the partaking of the lamb was symbolizing the partaking of the body of the Son of God, the Messiah then replaces the Lamb with bread as His body. When taking the bread during the Lords Supper we ought to not leave any left just as the instructions were for the lamb. Not only that but He replaces the Blood on the door post , which means the life or Spirit of Christ in the heart, with the drinking of wine which also symbolizes the receiving of the Life or Spirit of Christ in the believer.
The Messiah also says to His disciples, “I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” , “I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” And “I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.”
Notice the Messiah Himself calling the bread and wine Passover and Another interesting point to make is that He will not drink the wine or eat the bread UNTIL He does it with us in the Kingdom. This now shows us that there will be a future Passover with Us and our savior. It also points to the resurrection.
Joh 6:54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
This is what makes Passover extremely important to observe because now there is not only a past memorial and a present experience but also a future event that will occur. But first let’s look at Egypt to see if there is something significant for our present experience with Christ.
Exo_13:14 And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the LORD brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:
Passover teaches us that we ought to remember that Father has delivered from Egypt and referred to Egypt as the House of Bondage. In scripture our house refers to our bodies.
2Co 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.
2Co 5:2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:
2Co 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
Scripture says that body is our House. So what about the Bondage of that house?
Rom 7:23 But I see another law in my members (BODY), warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity(Bondage) to the law of sin which is in my members.
Rom 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Paul reveals to us that mankind is in need of deliverance from the House of Bondage or in other words the body of sin. In Romans chapter 6, Paul tells we are free in Christ and the body has no more power over us.
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Rom 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
Rom 6:13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
The memorial of deliverance from Egypt the House of Bondage is pointing to our deliverance from our house of bondage which is this body of Sin. We are made free in accepting the lamb of Gods death and receiving His life in us. A roman 6 confirms this.
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
This understanding is so important, why would He remove it from us having to remember this every year? It is to important for us not to observe and meditate on this important day. This is how this past experience teaches us of our present experience. Now we did notice that this feast also points to the future. There is a scripture I wanted us to keep in mind.
1Co 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
This verse shows us that the things written in exodus were not only written for an example of our present experience but also for us at the end of the world. Now this is where the feast of Passover becomes Prophetic. In Egypt, before Passover, Father released 9 plagues which destroyed Egypt. Right before the LAST plague, He shows us the importance of receiving the Lamb of God before the FINAL destruction. Is there anything in the end is represented here?
There are actually 7 last plagues mentioned in Revelation.
Rev 15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
Right before these plagues fall, in the chapter prior, there is the everlasting Gospel being preached in Revelation 14v6-12, just as the type shows us in Exodus 12 and 13. In revelation there is a power that is in control known as that GREAT CITY (Rev 17v18).
Rev 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
Notice what this city is known as spiritually in the book of revelation.
Rev 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
This City which will have complete power in the end and persecute the saints is referred to as EGYPT. This shows us that there will be a final exodus from that great city in the end. Passover is a feast which puts these very important experiences and events in our minds for constant study and meditation. The observance of Passover with the Lords supper is needed even more now in these last days as it was needed back then.
Lets finish up the rest of our study verses.
These scripture shows us something very important. As we partake of this service, it says we ought to be girded, with shoes on and staff in our hand. Where do we see this symbolism given?
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Our loins should be girt with truth, or in other words we ought to be in understanding of what we are doing. We cannot partake without understanding. Our feet shod with preparation of the Gospel. This means just as Israel was ready to go into the world from bondage; we ought to be ready to go into the world with this Gospel which Passover reveals. This is extremely important, Paul tells us that many are dying and are sick due to treating Lords supper as a common thing.
1Co 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
1Co 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
1Co 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
1Co 11:30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
Just as you cannot partake of the Lamb unworthily, you cannot partake of the bread and wine unworthily.
The command was to also have staff in the hand. Staff represents comforter.
Psa 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
It is to show that the comforter will be by your side. This is a very important point to understand. With this experience in our hearts Father will see us in the last days and pass over us and pour His wrath on spiritual Egypt (the great city).
DON’T YOU NEED TO GO TO JERUSALEM TO OBSERVE PASSOVER?
The answer is no. The Israelites kept Passover in Egypt and then for 40 years they kept it in the wilderness. Scripture shows its where God puts His name.
Deu 16:6 But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt.
Since we are the temple its where ever we are. His name is in our foreheads.
Rev 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation(tabernacle) of God through the Spirit.
We no longer go to Jerusalem because it was foretold by Christ that due to its desolation or rejection of Christ no one will worship at that temple.
Mat 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
Mat 23:38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.
Mat 23:39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
Joh 4:21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Jerusalem is no longer a place where the Fathers name dwells. It is a place that rejects the Son and scripture tells us if you reject the son then you reject the Father.
Joh 5:23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
I THOUGHT PASSOVER WAS ONLY FOR THE JEWS?
Scripture teaches that even in Egypt that others who were not Hebrew were able to take the Passover.
Exo 12:48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.
Exo 12:49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.
Once a stranger becomes converted or circumcised, they will count as apart of Israel. And the law that applies for Gods people will also apply to the stranger. Therefore there was never a restriction of who can partake in Passover. Passover was open to anyone willing to cut of the flesh and accept the lamb in their hearts just as it is now.
DOESN’T ALL MALES MUST BE CIRCUMCISED?
Circumcision was a type. It was the cutting off of the foreskin or FLESH of the male as a token of the Covenant. We ought to be circumcised today. Moses taught the reality of this.
Deu_10:16 Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
Deu_30:6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
This very important circumcision is performed with out hands but nevertheless it is necessary. It also has a replacement ordinance.
Col 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
Col 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Col 2:12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Circumcision is the same as the symbol of baptism. It is a memorial and ordinance to show what is occurring IN THE HEART. Passover is extremely important for the people of God to observe that they may never forget. Unfortunately many people are forgetting their first love and also many don’t know what receiving the Lamb of God in your heart actually means. Because of this there millions claiming Christianity yet still remain unconverted. We must continue to observe this throughout our generation. All these things is for our benefit.
Deu 5:32 Ye shall observe to do therefore as the LORD your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
Deu 5:33 Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess.
I hope this study helped with bringing more understanding not only to Passover but to our relationship with our Father and His son. If there is any question please contact me at 4thAngelTeaching.com.

These scripture shows us something very important. As we partake of this service, it says we ought to be girded, with shoes on and staff in our hand. Where do we see this symbolism given?
Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
